Holiday Greeting Card Design Element in Vintage StyleWe kicked off the year with our State of the Industry Address — a blog post looking at some of the most exciting trends in manufacturing — including enhancing productivity through automation and robotics, emphasizing safety above all else, pushing for further STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education in schools, and creating formal manufacturing apprenticeship programs.

To support these efforts, we hosted over 120 high school students on National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) 2016. Students got the chance to take tours of our facility and meet with several technical college representatives. At Astro Machine, we take pride in inspiring future generations to explore exciting careers in manufacturing.

To gain insight on ways to improve day-to-day operations and services for customers, our team met with industry leaders at the 15th Annual U.S. Department of Energy Small Business Forum and Expo in Atlanta, Ga. There we had the opportunity to network with knowledgeable professionals, and hear from keynote speakers such as U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Ernest Moniz.

With increased size capacity demand for larger parts, we added a high-speed 5-axis gantry machining center to our shop to increase our CNC machining capacity. Designed for maximum efficiency with no retooling downtime, this system allows our team to precision machine large-scale parts at high speeds.

Finally, our team was thrilled to announce the launch of our completely redesigned website in early November. Thanks to our responsive, user-friendly design, site visitors can now navigate our web pages, blog posts, and online resources on their computers, tablets, or smartphones. Don’t forget to follow our Twitter and LinkedIn pages or sign up for our email newsletter at the bottom of the contact us page for the latest, up-to-date news in the manufacturing industry!

We’re so thankful for another great year serving our customers, and we look forward to a successful start to 2017. From all of us at Astro Machine, happy holidays, and have a safe and healthy new year!
