Austin Jones, Welding Supervisor at Astro Machine Works, has achieved the AWS (American Welding Society) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. The American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification involves great responsibility and remarkable skill demonstration in the determination of weld quality according to applicable codes. Welding inspection goes way beyond simply looking at welds. A CWI must have a wide range of knowledge and skills including, but not limited to the following:

• Knowledge of drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of welding terms
• Knowledge of welding processes
• Knowledge of testing methods
• Training in engineering and metallurgy
• Welding experience
• Ability to maintain good records
• Ability to understand and apply documents describing weld requirements
